How Denis de Chavez Found His Voice Through Content Creation

ree

What started as a casual escape from the stress of the pandemic has now turned into a powerful platform for Denis de Chavez, better known to his about 300,000 TikTok followers as @legendenis, where he shares his love for food and geeking out in comics, anime, and pop culture.

“I just had so much free time during the pandemic,” Denis shares. “I wanted to do something else aside from work, so I started creating content.” What began as a hobby to beat boredom quickly transformed into something deeper, a creative outlet and safe space for expression. “Eventually, it became my escape whenever I’m stressed or just bored.”

Now on a new journey, Denis is also making waves as an athlete. Not just any athlete, he recently snagged a gold medal at the Asian Regional Championship (Southeast Asia) for Jiujitsu Fighting. With upcoming competitions like Jaeger, World Championships, and SEA Games, Denis is proving there's no limit to what he can achieve when he puts his mind to it.

Planned, Inspired, and Always Thoughtful

Denis’s content creation process walks the line between carefully planned and purely spontaneous.

“I consider myself to have two main types of content,” he explains. “One that I plan for days, thinking about the best way to deliver, and then more spontaneous content that just comes to me when I get inspired, usually while watching shows or even trending TikTok reels.”

When he plans content, he goes all in. “I research a lot about the topic, making sure I get all the information correct,” Denis says. But when creativity strikes, he rides the wave.

The Highs and Lows of Online Fame

For Denis, the highlight of his journey came when he had the chance to give back.

“The best moment was when I got to talk about my experience as a creator and share it with smaller content creators to help them on their journey,” he says. But not everything in the digital world is sunshine and support.

“The worst?” Denis pauses. “Definitely the random bashing you get from time to time. I’ve already accepted that it’s part of being a content creator… but I’m still human. I’m still vulnerable.”

Still, he remains grounded. “As long as it doesn’t affect me outside the internet, I just don’t respond,” he says calmly, choosing peace over drama.

Quiet Confidence in a Loud World

Despite his talkative nature on camera, Denis reveals something not everyone expects: “I’m actually really shy… and I mostly overthink.”

But if there’s one thing he’s sure of, it’s this: there’s space for everyone in the creator world. “If you’re threatened by another creator even if the content is similar, that just means you’re not confident in your own content and community.”

That mindset keeps him motivated. “At the core of it, I don’t create content for millions of views,” Denis says. “It’s for the few people who either learn from me or get inspired.”

Inspired by Legends, Creating His Own Path

One of Denis’s biggest inspirations was the late Comicstorian, a content creator he followed since college. “It’s extremely sad that he’s passed away, but he was definitely one of the reasons I even started creating content in the first place.”

As for cancel culture, Denis treads carefully. “I feel like there’s a place for it, but nowadays it’s affected by fake news, exaggerations, or even confusing statements. It’s hard to prove your innocence when people are just looking for negativity.”

Denis credits Blogapalooza for being a strong presence in his creator journey. “I really love the guidance and support, from planning content to closing brand deals. Everything just feels so professional.”

And as he nears the 300k mark on TikTok, he keeps it humble but hopeful. “Malapit na tayo sa 300k,” he says with a smile, a quiet nod to how far he’s come, and how much more there is to share.
